Supporting local families with children 0-12 years old by supporting local playgroups, School LiL Programs, coordinating family events, outreach programs at both Mowbray Primary School and Invermay Primary School, Kingbilly Park in Rocherlea & Torrens Street Park, Mayfield, and Mowbray. Working closely with the Schools of Invermay, East Tamar, and Mowbray & Lilydale, working with teachers & families to enhance their community connections by providing various information, and promotion of other services.
Our Community Family Workers
Monique (on the left) and Deb (on the right), are our Community Family Workers working across Northern Suburbs.
Monique has been providing support to Children for Communities program for the past year and is based at our Newnham Centre. Deb has been providing support to Children for Communities program at our Mowbray Centre for the past 10 years. Both Monique and Deb are passionate about supporting parents/carers and their families. Each school term they provide parenting and children workshops chock full of useful parenting tips to support families build strong relationships and Fun! They also provide weekly activities and programs at each centre e.g. Children’s University, Baby Bugs, Make time to Play; as well as providing outreach programs at various locations where parents/carers can get support, information and referrals to other supportive services.

Playgroups
Various playgroups for parents/carers and their kids aged 0-5 at the local community centre and various other locations within your community. Activities include art, physical play, music, and building early friendships between parents/carers and their children. While also Engaging with Launching into Learning, a stepping stone into early learning.
Family Outreach Programs
An activity for the entire family, held in local parks and schools within your community. Supported by City Mission, and the local PCYC providing a free BBQ and various physical activities. Our Community Family Workers are a friendly face supporting the events offering a friendly familiar face offering various information, referral of services, and ongoing support.
Family Events
Welcoming fun free events for families with children aged 0-12 in the Northern Suburbs of Launceston. Events include various activities such as jumping castles, face painting, and arts & craft. These events offer connection to other service providers in a family friendly environment.
Parenting Programs
Education programs that enhance parents/carers skills and knowledge with their children aged 0-5. Programs on offer include Play Steps Parenting Program, Circle of Security, and we can connect parents/carers with other programs offered by other services i.e. Magic 1, 2, 3, and Drum Beat.
Networking
With a vast network throughout various services, our Community Family Workers have the ability to refer and connect families to various support services throughout Launceston. This includes our onsite Family Support Worker in a casual setting.
